Carl Cropp, CTRS, CDBT

For decades, I have had the honor of working with a wide variety of people of differing cultures, ages, and backgrounds in acute behavioral health settings. Mental illness and addiction have always been present in my neighborhood with friends and family. Life experiences of personal loss, raising teenage daughters, and my marriage have all shaped my perspective. We are emotional creatures who happen to have the ability to think. Everyone has an emotional threshold that must be maintained for growth and overall positive well-being to occur. I compare it to an emotional bank account that must maintain a positive balance to achieve optimal health.

I am currently in a CACREP-accredited counseling program at Adams State University.  The Person-Centered and Anylitical or Jungian-based theories of striving for personal growth and wholeness are in line with my personal beliefs though I believe there is wisdom and something to be taken from most psychological theories of therapy. While I enjoy working with all people, my training in Trauma-Based Relational Interventions, Collaborative problem-solving, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Recreational Therapy have given me significant experience working with people who have Anxiety, PTSD, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder. My own mental health includes weekly doses of exercise, mindfulness, music, nature, and purposeful interactions with family and friends.

Deciding to get counseling can be challenging and at the same time, extremely rewarding. If you are ready to make that decision and work on making yourself better, I want to help you become that better version of yourself.
