We welcome and are skilled at helping all genders.

And yet working with men is a passion of Chuck’s.

Why has Chuck named Men’s Work as a specialty?

First of all, Chuck is a male bodied human, who grew up in the south where there were lots of rules about how to be a man and what it meant to be a man. Through decades of self exploration and growth as well as almost a decade participating in and leading men’s groups and men’s retreats, Chuck has explored beyond the rules he was given growing up and knows many men could benefit from the same.

Counseling or coaching with men is often different than with women. Many men don’t like to talk personally or be vulnerable. Research shows men are less likely to seek help about personal matters – physical or mental health alike. Most men are “just fine.”  And that is true to some degree. And yet men are still suffering. Often alone.

Solitude is great Sometimes. But you don’t always have to go alone.

Relationships are important to our mental health and women are generally better equipped and supported in maintaining relationships.  Men need to learn how to be relational both with other men and their partners to help increase quality of life and mental health. Working out, playing sports, or going to the bar are a great start, but most men I work with still want or could benefit from more in their relationships.

So while therapy can be hard and intimidating for men, there are many benefits, especially when working with a man who has decades of experience being with other men from all walks of life. From college students, hourly workers, university professors, lawyers, business owners, engineers, and high level managers, Chuck has been able to connect and help men take the steps they need to greater health and fulfillment.

Either in individual sessions or the weekly Men’s Group, you can trust you will be met with respect, understanding, challenge, and support in order to help you be a more effective, successful man engaging in healthy ways in all aspects of your life.
