Inner Life Adventures, LLC founded by Chuck Hancock in 2010 was created to fill the gap that exists in those in-between places.  We exist somewhere in between the cold detached clinical, diagnosis-driven medical model and the unregulated anything-goes realm of life coaches or other “healers” where you never really know if the person you are paying knows what they are talking about. We value the history, science, and research in psychology and counseling for over a century and we value innovation and the underrepresented paths that have been overlooked by the mainstream field.  We are well grounded and credentialed, able to work with insurance companies to help you get assistance with your costs, yet also able to push the boundaries of the clinical model to move beyond stagnation with innovative approaches from the latest understanding of psychology as well as the depths of our personal, transpersonal, cultural, and relational histories.

We do not take a problem-centered approach.  In fact, in our view, there is really no such thing as a problem, only information and lessons to learn from experience. While some may specialize in the treatment of a problem, such as depression, anxiety, relationships, career, substance abuse, life transitions, anger management, assertiveness, sexuality, body image, and on and on… we focus on the full spectrum of living a whole balanced human life.  The list of “problems” that we face in our lives can be infinite. Rather than focusing on problems or labels, we focus on you as a whole, complete human being, no matter how you might feel or what you are facing.  This wholeness includes both things that make you feel good and things that you don’t like.  Working from this positive life-affirming stance, we will help guide you through an exploration of self, environment, resources, skills, and gifts that you have to help you feel supported and able to move through whatever you are facing.

Cole ButlerIf you don’t want or need mental health counseling and are drawn to nature connection work, ritual, ceremony, or exploring off the well worn trails, you may also want to inquire into our sister company, Reconnecting to our Nature.  Reconnecting to our Nature provides nature based coaching, retreats, and wilderness programs.  Work with Reconnecting to our Nature is not counseling or psychotherapy, rather nature informed coaching.  Feel free to ask about the difference and pros and cons of each approach if you would like more information.
